1. May I apply?
Yes! If you have a master degree or a five years university degree in engineering.
If you do not have a degree in engineering or only a bachelor degree, your case must be specifically analysed to see if with the approval of a specific bridging program you may be afterwards accepted for the PhD.
2. Find a Supervisor
To become a PhD student you need to have a supervisor from IST.
a) Contact directly any professor from the list;
b) Contact the PhD Coordinator, indicating your research areas preferences and he will appoint you a supervisor;
c) Send always the “first contact form” to the Secretariat of the Course;
d) If you do not get a contact from a potential supervisor within a week, please contact the Secretariat.
3. Do you need a scholarship?
To live in Lisbon you need around 1000Eur/Month and the PhD fees are around 2750Eur/Year.
If you need a scholarship you should indicate it to your potential supervisor that will help you to apply for a scholarship (see scholarships entities sites).
Presently it is difficult to get scholarship for foreign students unless they are exceptional students.
